Fox Courts

Originally developed by Resources for Community Development (RCD) in 2009, Fox Courts is an 80-unit affordable family housing community in the heart of Uptown Oakland. The community provides housing for households earning between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and includes a mix of studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments, as well as resident-focused community amenities.

D+H Construction is performing an occupied rehabilitation designed to preserve the long-term affordability, functionality, and quality of the property while minimizing disruption to residents. The project includes repairs and replacement of aging building systems, finishes, and fixtures, modernization of building elements to improve energy performance, and upgrades to accessibility throughout the community. Improvements also include bringing existing paths of travel into compliance with current accessibility standards and increasing the number of mobility- and communication-accessible units.

Executing this work in an occupied residential environment requires detailed planning, close coordination with property management and residents, and a strong commitment to safety and communication. Through phased construction and proactive resident engagement, D+H is helping extend the life of this important affordable housing community while enhancing comfort, accessibility, and building performance for years to come.
