721 Airport Road

The 721 Airport Road project converts an existing 45-room hotel (formerly a Ramada Inn) into 45 studio apartments of permanent supportive housing. The adaptive reuse includes building out new lobbies, property management offices, resident services spaces, laundry facilities, and an onsite manager’s unit. Kitchenettes will be added to each unit.
The site is strategically located in a mixed residential/commercial area with access to transit and county support services. ECS will deliver on-site supportive services — including case management, mental health, employment support, benefits assistance, and peer services — to promote housing stability.
Repurposing a hotel into permanent supportive housing presents technical and logistical challenges. The design must ensure that plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and life-safety systems meet residential code standards while preserving existing structure. Converting guest rooms into apartments with kitchenettes and installing communal support spaces requires careful sequencing to minimize utility disruption. Coordinating the new services infrastructure with areas already in use during renovation is critical. ECS’s approach includes integrating wraparound services with resident amenities to support long-term stability.
