2025 Safety Progress: Strong Momentum, Real Results
As we close out 2025, we want to recognize the steady, meaningful progress our teams have made to strengthen safety across D+H Construction. While we didn’t hit 100% of every goal, we did build momentum in key areas and reinforced habits that protect our people and projects every day. Safety work is never “done”, and we have much to look forward to as we continue to build on the progress we’ve made.
“Safety work is never done, but the progress we made this year shows what’s possible when small, consistent habits take hold. I’m proud of how our teams continue to show ownership of safety in the field and support one another in doing the work the right way.”

Improvements in the Field: Small Habits, Big Safety Impact
One of the most encouraging shifts we’ve seen this year is how safety is showing up day-to-day in the field. Across multiple sites, teams have been more consistent about documenting safety observations, not just noticing hazards, but recording them clearly and following through. That stronger paper trail helps us spot trends early and share lessons learned across projects. We’ve also seen noticeably better housekeeping practices: cleaner access paths, more organized laydown areas, and fewer slip and trip hazards. Those improvements may feel basic, but they reduce real risk, support smoother inspections, and reflect growing ownership of safety at every jobsite.
Field Support + Startup Consistency Improved
There’s nothing like an unannounced multi-agency jobsite visit from the state to make you button up the shop. Our team responded professionally and effectively, and we used it as an opportunity to strengthen our field support and tighten up jobsite consistency moving forward. In addition, we:
- Audited six active jobsites to confirm required safety documents were in place, field staff is knowledgeable, and quickly replenished missing items.
- Refreshed the job posting layout and set up including collection of subcontractor IIPPs and SDSs for jobsite access.
- Implemented startup documents handoff to ensure completeness and accountability
- Planning for proactive audit schedule, approximately 2–3 weeks after mobilization to catch gaps early.
.
Training Efforts Expanded, Even With Real-World Time Constraints:
We offered more organized trainings this year. While participation wasn’t as high as we’d like (8-hour commitments are tough in the field), we identified reliable resources to utilize for future offerings.
- Completed 8-hr competent trainings in Fall Protection; Trenching, Excavation & Shoring and; Confined Space with a handful of D+H staff.
- Provided refresher training in Heat Illness and Ladder Safety
- Expanded First Aid/CPR training to carpenters and laborers
- 11 employees completed OSHA 30, bring our total to 95%
.
Communication Stayed Active + Visible All Year
Keeping safety “alive” month-to-month takes repetition and creativity, and this year we delivered.
- First time participation in Construction Safety Week
- Addressed 11 different safety topics in staff meetings
- Weekly Toolbox and seasonal reminders
.
What’s Next
As we look forward to 2026, some goals remain in progress, particularly around proactive field hazard identification/JHA coaching, streamlining training record tracking, and rolling out refreshed orientation materials and the updated Safety Manual. These are still high priorities for 2026, and the work we did this year gives us a stronger foundation to build on.
